The first technique to a great glass of iced coffee is to simply brew it cold.  This is one of the more simple iced coffee at home methods you can use.

It’s easy, fast, cheap, and there are actually some taste benefits to this method.

By brewing it cold, you actually eliminate some of the natural bitterness that is characteristic of hot brewed coffee.

It also results in a sweeter, tastier coffee that helps you beat the heat rather than warm you up.

This technique will not only help you “chill out” in the heat of a scorching summer, but will also tango your taste buds to a whole new world of low acidity, sweet-tasting iced coffee.

This easy to master technique simply involves creating a coffee concentrate by pouring ground coffee beans from the best coffee bean menu into a pitcher, adding cold water, allowing it to sit for about twelve hours, and straining out the grounds from the water.

Now, all that’s left to do is to serve it in a glass with one part coffee concentrate and three parts milk or cold water.

Simple, cheap, and easy, this method of how to make homemade iced coffee delivers on all fronts to be one of the best techniques to brew up a nice chilled treat to keep you cool during those harsh summer months.

The next method of making a fresh homemade iced coffee involves a technique that is revered and for people who prefer a sweeter drink of iced coffee.

Starbucks made the Frappuccino method famous.

But, if you don’t want to have to leave the comforts of your air conditioned home in the dead heat of the summer, but still want that chilled coffee, than you can still make that coffee frappe from home.

Simply brew some hot fresh coffee and pour it into a blender with some milk and some ice cubes.

Then you blend for about ten seconds, just until the ice is in small chunks.

After that, you can add any flavoring or sugar you want until it tastes just right to your taste buds.

Then just blend until smooth, and serve it up. If you want, you can top it off with some whipped cream or some regular dairy creamer (or to spice it up we suggest this twist of substituting delicious Califia Farms Almond Milk Coffee Creamer if you are an almond Nut!) for that added bonus.

So if you are looking for a fun, sweet drink that will keep you cool and give you your daily dose of caffeine, then this is the method of how to make homemade iced coffee for you.

The instant Jamaica shaker includes some of the best aspects of an iced coffee that a coffee drinker in the summer needs to help them cool off.

It has the taste, simplicity, and ease that you want when it comes to homemade iced coffee.

This method simply involves dissolving some instant coffee and sugar in water, adding some chilled milk and ice, and stirring it up!

If you can, it would be best to shake it up together, but if you don’t have something you can shake it up in, then stirring will work just as well.  Or, if all you have is a glass of ice, an iced coffee pour over works very nicely.

Overall, if you just need a small dose of coffee, but also want to stay cool, than the instant Jamaica shaker is the method of how to make homemade iced coffee for you!

Hot Brewed Coffee

Another way to get that fresh coffee taste is to brew it hot and chill it for later.

For this technique, you simply need to brew a carafe full of hot, fresh coffee.

Of course, if you want to use ice cubes later, you should make sure to make the coffee extra strong so that when it gets watered down, the coffee still retains some strength.

After you brew it, let it cool to room temperature, which should only take about an hour, and then chill the coffee in the refrigerator for an additional two hours.

Then just serve it up in a nice tall glass with some milk if that’s how you take your coffee.

Or, head over to The Best Ever Cookie Collection for some simple recipes for baking yourself some biscotti, or chewy sugar cookies.   Just because your coffee is cold and has some ice doesn’t mean this classic coffee dipping treat won’t still hit the spot!

This method of how to make homemade iced coffee is simple, easy to make, and delicious! If you prefer that fresh taste and acidity of a freshly brewed cup of cold coffee, but still want that chilled taste, than this is the method for you.

One of the other ways to spice up a cool iced coffee drink is to add some flavor enhancements to that traditional coffee taste.

For instance, you can add some orange peels to your iced coffee or orange ice cream to make your iced coffee not only cool and refreshing, but also fruity and delicious!

Another interesting addition that you can make is to take some raspberry sorbet and mix in some fresh raspberries and add a little bit of iced coffee for an interesting change of taste to your coffee.

You can do this with all kinds of differently flavored sorbets and fresh fruits.

And, for the adults out there looking to have some fun and want a little kick to their coffee, you can simply add two parts chilled coffee, two parts Irish cream, two parts vodka, and a dash of vanilla (if you are a vanilla fanatic, we highly recommend Nielsen-Massey Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar) for flavor to create an iced coffee mixed drink.

So if you’re looking for that caffeinated drink that will keep you cool AND deliver a tasty blend of smooth coffee, then look no further!

The most standard and delicious flavors, brews and methods of how to make homemade iced coffee are all here and explained, so now you’ll be ready for even the most brutal of summers.

But, My Iced Coffee Always Get Watery?

While researching this article, we ran across a genius idea we wanted to pass along.

One complaint we have run into while looking into Iced Coffee and talking to people about Iced Coffee, is that by the time you get halfway through your drink, the ice melts and waters down the coffee.

We agree and just like most of you really hate when that happens.

Well, this trick pretty much eliminates this problem!

Coffee Ice Cubes

All you need to do to work around this problem is instead of making your ice cubes out of water,  you make them out of your ice coffee.

Like I said…  Genius!!

So, to get you started, make a batch large enough to fill your ice tray, fill your ice tray and pop it in the freezer for the next time you want a nice glass of iced coffee.

Then, when you want that delicious glass of iced coffee, you:

  1. Make your coffee
  2. Fill your glass with the coffee ice cubes from the freezer
  3. Pour your just made coffee over you coffee ice cubes
  4. Fill your ice tray with the rest of the coffee you just made (for the next time)

It may take a time or two to figure out how much coffee you need to make to fill the ice tray and your glass.  You might even want to keep an extra tray in the freezer in case a friend comes over an want to give your genius idea a try!
